1.    Most nouns form their plurals form by adding  -s  to the singular forms.

 Examples   
cat - cats         book - books

2.    When singular noun ends with   s , sh , ch , x its plural formed by addng –es

  Examples    
box - boxes        bench - benches

 

3.    Some singular nouns ending with  o  also takes  -es  when their plurals are formed.

  Examples    
tomato - tomatoes        potato - potatoes

 

4.    When the last letter of a singular noun is  y and the letter before  y is a consonant , its plural is formed by changing  y  to –ies

Examples 
baby - babies        fly - flies

 

5.    Some nouns ending with  f  form their plural by adding –ves

  Examples 
leaf - leaves          calf - calves     

6.    Some nouns ending with  fe  form their plural by adding –ves

  Examples 
knife - knives         life - lives         

7.    Some nouns have different singular and plural forms

  Examples 
chid - chidren            man - men
